Vortex Cove

Vortex Cove is a hidden cove located a quarter-mile trail from a hidden path at the western edge of Malthren Manor. It was once a sacred ritual site where the Malthrenok of the Magarisok could foresee the future.

The cove can be accessed three ways:

  1. By boat, from the Ear’s Canal. However, the entrance is nearly invisible from the water. Only those who know the secret path can find it.
  2. By foot, from the hidden path at the western edge of the Malthren Manor, through the Murmal Market lagoon.
  3. By teleportation, from the basement of the Malthren Manor.

The deceptively wide berths of the cove allow for the docking of surprisingly large vessels, and it became a popular hiding place for ships owned by the Narrows’ Smugglers Guild.

In the distant past, the Vortex Cove was considered a sacred site by the Hick people who inhabited Senera (c. 2000 PF-200 AI). Wise folk from all over the island held pilgrimages to the tide-pools within the cove in order to watch as the Magarisok tribe’s Malthrenok—literally pool-watchers—walked into the tumultous waters of the pools, to ride, as was said, the very ebbs and flows of time itself.

In the present day, the Vortex Cove is used by the Murmal smugglers as a hidden harbor. Tunnels were made connecting it to the Murmal Market. Some say that the place was rented out to the members of the Hickland for Hicks rebellion.

A magical portal connects Vortex Cove to the basemet of the Malthren Manor as well, presumably used by the Lord Malthren to travel to the cove in order to perform divinations.
